As an admirer of Alexander Calder, Schottlander developed the MANTIS series of lamps in 1951. Movement is the essence of all of Schottlander's work: as an artist, engineer and, not least, a craftsman, he developed an ingenious system of counterweights combined with a series of strong and flexible metal rods.
